A: Okay, so we thoroughly enjoy the whole Black Friday…
J: So sis, you tell me my closet wants certain pieces and me being the good student I am, I got SOME of the things my closet was missing. Once again though you need to spell it out for me…WHY does my closet want them? How do I make these basics not look so basic? I’m sure this will lead to another blog, but how do I wear the same pieces in completely different ways.
A: I have to admit, your request on this blog has been a bit tough for me because when I look at our ‘Your Closet Wants’ pieces, I see so many different possibilities that it’s hard to select just a few to highlight. BUT, being the good SISTER that I am, I reigned it in and got the “job” done!
J: I appreciate the restraint and focus that it took:). I hate stifling your creative process, but I’m still using training wheels, LOL. But at least I didn’t break out any blazers with shoulder pads…
A: Nope, you didn’t try to pull a Melanie Griffith out of Working Girl, CHARLIE! (p.s. We are cracking ourselves up right now…yet again, you’ve just got to watch Friends! OR, just have Jenn recycle dialogue for you…she’s a genius at it!)
J: Well thanks…we all have our roles! You’re in charge of wardrobe and I’m in charge of the one-liners.
A: Well you’ve done your job, now take a look at mine…
A: This cozy gray sweater from Express is so versatile. Just throw it on with a black moto, some distressed jeans and your favorite boots and you’ll have a look that leaves you happy.
A: As our sister-in-law Noel would say, “A girl can never have too many denim shirts!” I agree and my favorite way to wear a denim shirt is with a great skirt (preferably leather)! Baby, it’s cold outside…so add black opaque tights and otk boots, and grab your moto jacket as you head out the door.
A: Give your favorite flannel a re-boot and wear it with pumps, black denim, a cozy scarf and pretty jewelry instead of your basic blue jeans and shoes.
A: There are so many versions of a white button up. Select one in a material that you find both comfortable and versatile. I prefer silky or crepe versions like this blouse from Express. Leave it un-tucked and throw on your favorite jeans and ankle booties for a look that’s polished while still remaining casual. Adding extras is always fun…loving this ultra skinny long black tie (bonus = it comes with the shirt)!
A: This look scores big points as it could easily transition from day to night. The mixed metallics in the necklace and nude suede pumps offer the right amount of texture and shine…livening up your denim and an otherwise basic black blazer and tank!
A: I love a great fur vest (check out our Splurge Worthy page for a similar one). My favorite way to wear this vest right now? Add flare leg jeans, suede shoes and leather and gold accessories!
J: So sis, even though you had to reign it in, did you have fun:) ?
A: If it involves clothes, you know the answer is always yes!
